HELP US CONSERVE WATER
In an effort to help conserve water, over the next few weeks, we will be providing tips to consider when irrigating your lawn: First, the greatest waste of water is watering too much, too often. The type of sprinkler system you select, the time and frequency you dedicate to watering, and the attention paid to your soil and lawn's needs will help you water more efficiently and will result in a healthier lawn. Overwatering your lawn can lead to a variety of problems including shallow-rooted lawns, increased leaching of fertilizers and nutrients, and an increased potential for disease problems. Supplying too much water also causes grass to grow faster, which means more maintenance for you!
SUNSET RESOURCE FAIR
The Resource Fair at Sunset Elementary School was put on in coordination with Communities in Schools and the Trailblazers Program. There were information tables of resources for parents to access over the summer for their children. Trailblazers students have been focused on STEM activities all year, so as a culminating event Radical Rick came to engage kids in some fun hands-on science experiments. A PowerPoint showed what the Trailblazers had been up to all year. What a wonderful night!
WATER CONSERVATION: IT STARTS WITH US!
Please join us in conserving water this spring and summer. Cheney Public Schools is working with our cities to promote water conservation. For example, in the City of Airway Heights we will be using reclaimed water for our playfields. Although this is not an option currently available in the City of Cheney, our goal is to keep our playfields green and available for summer use while achieving our water conservation goals.
